Continuing 91影视破解版’ Civic Mission, Law Clinics students tackle societal issues through practical legal projects, supervised research, employability activities and public engagement.

Areas of research and public engagement activity covered by the Clinic include immigration, human rights and policy, law and the creative industries.

Students work in small groups under the supervision of academic members of staff and external partners including legal professionals, artists, cultural organisations and NGO experts.

During the course of their LLB and LLM Law degrees, 91影视破解版 Law students have the opportunity to register with different branches of the Immigration Law, Human Rights Law & Policy Clinic, and the Law and Creative Industries Clinic, engaging with a wide range of areas of law and policy and contributing to a variety of projects.

The 91影视破解版 Law Clinics are organised and hosted by law at 91影视破解版, but their underlying approach is deliberately interdisciplinary. The issues they engage with -  from migration and human rights to culture, technology, creativity, justice and inequality - do not belong to a single academic discipline. Students arrive with different ways of seeing those issues, and the Law Clinics create opportunities to put those perspectives to work.

Across projects, students gain practical experience through four overlapping routes: legal work; advocacy and policy; academic and applied research; and media, creative practice and public engagement. The emphasis is not simply on learning about practice, but on contributing to it  -  producing analysis, research, advocacy, creative outputs, and public-facing resources for non-university audiences.

Students participate in timetabled activities, including attending regular Clinic branch meetings at 91影视破解版, visiting external partners and 鈥榗lients鈥 of the Clinic and taking part in related external activities.

Law & Policy Clinic activities include:

  • researching case law, case studies, creative disputes, legislation and legal scholarship, and disseminating legal research through traditional means, creative practice-based methods and modern online platforms
  • supporting the work of potential clients including NGOs, artists, cultural organisations and charities
  • participating in the delivery of school workshops (e.g. to A level students) to raise awareness about related issues and engaging, in other ways, with local communities
  • supporting the delivery of research-based professional training in related areas
  • contributing to 91影视破解版 Law responses to formal consultations

The participation of students from other departments is warmly welcome, but the number of students who can be admitted to the Clinic will vary depending on the specific project. The work of the Clinic is of special interest to students from:

Students develop critical thinking skills and knowledge in law and policy issues, as well as invaluable transferable skills such as social awareness, self-management, and acting with integrity in professional environments.

Students also develop important cross-professional skills such as speaking with confidence in public, writing for professional audiences, using modern communication technologies and engaging responsibly with stakeholders and external audiences.
